Generally the list created here is aimed at books that are used for modern Rinzai practice and written or translated by authentic experts.Included here first is the standard current translation and comentary on the Mumonkan, published as The gateless gate' with comentaries, used as a standard training text by all international Zen temples, also highly recommended in order of seriousness are the Mujintoron, an essential text for serious study, and the Rinzairoku, the book written by Rinzai Kigen in the 10th century. Other books such as Jizo Bodhisattva are also recommended.
